Mom, Interrupted

Last night, kids all over slept with their pj's inside out, flushed ice cubes down the toilet, did silly dances, and probably many more rituals that my kiddies aren't aware of yet.  All for the sake of a snow day.  And it worked!  My kids were so excited, they got to sleep in, play Wii, board games and spent quite a bit of time outside frolicking in the snow.  For me a snow day means an extra shot of whiskey espresso in my morning coffee and hiding in the bathroom periodically to check emails and watch a few minutes of GH here and there.  My kiddies have some sort of crazy magical power that lets them know the second I get on the phone or go anywhere near my laptop so they can run over and interrupt.  And even though I am often followed into the bathroom, it really is the safest place to hide.  I spent all morning with them playing games, anything they wanted, I even fed them.... twice!  Breakfast AND Lunch!  And then I helped them get dressed in their warm snow clothes and led then outside to play and frolic with their friends in the snow.  I then baked a cake while they were outside (ok it was a mix and really not that difficult to do, but still!)  So really, what is so wrong with me checking my email or taking a phone call every once in a while.  They run a tight ship, and I often have to wonder who is in charge around here.  Then there's my hubby, who swears he is the only one who didn't go into the office today.  He has been on "calls" all day, locked in the spare bedroom doing "work".  He is probably "working" on his fantasy football lineup or whatever it is you do with your fantasy football team.
Well, I better get going.  There are only so many times a day you can tell your kids you are doing #2 without them getting worried and calling the ambulance because they think you have food poising, and I don't want my cover blown (no pun intended)!
Stay Warm! xoxo

A Day at the Pharm.

I was looking forward to working this past weekend because I figured I'd get a lot of blogging material from a weekend at the pharm.  But it was a pretty slow weekend and nothing super exciting happened.  There were no enema mishaps, no one needed help with the insertion of vaginal suppositories (my 21 year old tech is surprisingly good at helping out with these problems.  And it always seems to be the same 4 girls from the college down the street.  Hmm, what's up with that?)  I have had some crazy stuff happen to me while working at the pharm, and one day I will tell you all about it, but not today, I have to take a nap soon before the kiddies get home from school... priorities, priorities, people.  I do enjoy this particular pharm, it's never a dull moment thanks to my co-workers who are a bunch a young good looking guys (get those dirty, perverted thoughts out of your head, yes I am talking to you Robbie).  They seem to like the finer things in life, like pearl necklaces and the Eiffel Tower, so we always have a ton to talk about!  I've learned some very important lessons from them, like what not to call your girlfriend when you are drunk, a gauge is used for things other than tires, and that sometimes three is not a crowd.  I often stop and think of my own babies and wonder what they will be like when they are 19, 21, and such.  I pray that they are nothing like these clowns.  Hahaha, kidding!  The youth of today are so different than when I was young.  I remember being at home, in my always clean and organized room, studying and watching PBS.

(circa 1998)
I could usually be found at the library doing homework and research papers, and geometry was my middle name.  I think I should go dust off my diploma now, after I take that nap.

New Years Resolution... What is yours?

I had such a productive morning... I cleaned the whole house including the toilets, mopped the floors, unpacked some more boxes,  oops, sorry, I got carried away there and thought I was writing an email to my husband.  What I really did this morning was catch up on General Hospital (GH) and take a nap.  I am a champion napper, if I may say so myself.  But today it was much needed.  You see, there was a bus crash on GH and some of the people got hurt, one girl even died.  It was so sad and I cried throughout the whole episode and not just because Brenda wasn't on at all, but because of the crash... remember.  A nap was really the only way I would feel better and get my mind off of it.  Ok, but enough about me.

What is your New Years Resolution?  Mine is to be more crafty.  I went to A.C. Moore the other day.  Have you people been to that store?  It's amazing.  It's a crafty person's heaven!  I spent hours in there, it was so much fun and I left feeling more crafty than ever.  I bought a whole bunch of stuff, and can't wait to use it.  But, that was on Tuesday and it is still sitting in the A.C. Moore bag that I brought it home in and left in the living room.  I was reminded by a friend that simply buying the crafty stuff does not actually make one crafty, you must actually use the stuff that was purchased and make something with it.  Otherwise it's just called "shopping" and I was already really good at that.  So, I am making a promise to myself that on Monday, while the kids are in school, I will start my crafting journey.  I picked Monday because it is the start of a new week, diets usually start on Mondays (well, atleast mine always starts on a Monday) and new episodes of GH start on Monday and Gossip Girl is on Monday.... if it's good enough for Serena and Blair than by golly it is good enough for me.  Monday night I will post a pic of my progress.  Wish me luck :)
Well, it's almost time for the kiddies to get home from school.  I am shocked school wasn't cancelled today with all of this snow.  I must go take a quick power nap tidy up before they get here.  Until next time......

To Blog or Not To Blog.....

That is the question.  Seems like everyone has a blog these days, movie stars, make-up artists, moms, dads, photographers, the check out girl at Shop Rite, even the homeless man outside of Madison Square Garden (free wi fi, people!)  so I decided to jump on the bandwagon.  I have a lot to say and will peer pressure all of my friends and family to read this, so really, it's a win win for us all!  Make sure you "subscribe" so I don't hate you forever, you don't miss a thing!  I will have contests and be giving away free stuff every week. (Haha, really I won't be, but it seems like many blogs do so I thought I should throw that in there for good measure).  So I am off now, I think I spent enough time on this for one day.  I don't want to use up all my material on the first day.  Plus my kids will be home soon, and I need to whip up some dinner for them.  Oh and my husband too, he will probably want to be fed tonight as well.  The every other day idea didn't seem to go over as well as I had hoped.   Oh well, can't blame a girl for trying.  Until next time.......
